Removal of Supporting People Ringfence
Summary:
REMOVAL OF THE SP RINGFENCE
Message from Jenny Edwards, Chief Executive of Homeless Link
The impact of the removal of the SP ringfence, the transition to Area Based Grant and the interaction with the climate of public spending cuts is a key concern for our sector. We have been raising this issue with Government as a member of the SP transitions board. I have also raised it directly in recent weeks in bilateral meetings with senior officials and ministers and asked for close monitoring of the developing situation.
This is an area that will continue to be a key focus of our campaigning. Our regional team are also keeping a close eye on the situation in different areas. We want to ensure our future work is underpinned by your experiences and evidence of change affecting the level of services for homeless people. To capture this we have set up an SP Alert system online. You or your staff can use this to tell us about any changes, concerns, and opportunities. This evidence will be used in our lobbying work with the transitions board and our wider work at this critical time.
We are always keen to support members in making the strongest case for the value and impact of their work and to be successful in the commissioning process as well as more generally. For resources and guidance about SP, Commissioning and Procurement, please visit the Supporting People pages of our website.
As always, your feedback is much valued. We want to ensure that our information is as helpful as possible to support members in delivering quality services for homeless people in this challenging period of change.
All good wishes
Jenny Edwards
