HAYH Executive

The HAYH Executive is the decision-making body that determines how HAYH is run. The Executive is responsible for ensuring that HAYH meet the aims and principles contained within the HAYH Constitution, and that HAYH work in accordance with the HAYH Issues Paper. The Executive is also responsible for collating the views of HAYH Members through HAYH Member Consultations and HAYH Surveys in order to influence decision-making bodies.

The main roles and activities of the HAYH Executive are as follows:

  • To attend six HAYH Executive meetings each year.
  • To participate in decision-making processes.
  • To lead, or participate in delivering work on behalf of the HAYH network as agreed and prioritized by the HAYH Executive.
  • To represent HAYH at meetings and events as agreed by the HAYH Executive.
  • To promote, represent and be the ‘public face’ of HAYH in the appropriate sub-region.
  • To represent the views of all members as appropriate.
  • To act in a professional manner and project a positive approach whilst representing HAYH.
  • Other unforeseen activities that may arise from time to time.

The HAYH Executive strives to be representative of Yorkshire &Humberside. Ideally, the HAYH Executive should represent the four sub-regions equally. This means there should be 3 members for each sub region: North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside. Additionally there is allowance for some members of the HAYH Executive to be classed as ‘pan regional’. Representatives from Homeless Link and Shelter are standing members of the HAYH Executive.

The HAYH Executive works according to democratic principles. Only voluntary and community sector housing and homelessness organizations are eligible to stand for, and vote to elect, the HAYH Executive. Each Executive Group member representing a sub-region shall serve for a 2-year term before standing again for election.

The current HAYH Executive is listed below. The Chair of the HAYH Executive is Graham Mynott, Head of Project of Key House (Keighley, West Yorkshire). NORTH YORKSHIRE

Linda Brittain represents Scarborough &Ryedale Young Person’s Drug &Alcohol Reference Group, hosted by Foundation Housing (Scarborough, North Yorkshire). Linda became a member of the HAYH Executive in January 2007.
