Mental Health Support worker

Horton Housing Association provides a range of housing and day support services in a manner that promotes self-esteem, respect and independence to people disadvantaged by housing circumstances or social need.
We are currently seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to join our team in Bradford. Working on a rota basis that includes some weekend and bank holiday cover, you will be providing day cover supporting our residents who suffer from mental health problems. You will ensure that the project is able to run smoothly from day-to-day through assisting the residents with their concerns, helping them with contact with other agencies such as the Health Service or the Courts, and settling them in to the hostel.
The role also involves maintaining and reviewing the residents’ files and taking care of the documentation involved in accepting new residents. The Mental Health Support worker will also be responsible for dealing with petty cash and weekly rent sheets, as well as ensuring that any maintenance issues in properties are dealt with efficiently and according to procedures.
The ideal candidate will be a caring, empathic person with experience of working with people with mental health problems. You will understand the issues faced by homeless residents and approach your work with a caring and professional manner. A team player, you will be able to work closely with others and communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and other professionals. The successful candidate will have knowledge of basic domestic skills and be able to use these when necessary.
A caring individual who is also able to cope effectively with stressful situations, you will be an approachable and reliable representative of our Association.
